<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-destructive insulation testing for solving the problem wherein traditional testing have found it difficult to detect any flaw of those coils, wherein the distance from a laminate core used for winding wire-collared iron core to the coil flaws is large and remote. <P>SOLUTION: In this test system, the duration of a wave front Tf of a surge voltage generator 10, used for insulation testing method, is 1-3 microsecs, and also the duration of a wave tail Tt of this surge voltage waveform is set to 40 microsecs. The system comprises a step of installing an electric machine 1 in a container 2 with its internal pressure being maintained to 15-25 [Torrs], a step of applying surge voltage to the coil, and a step of detecting whether glow discharge generates from the coil. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
