PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure confortable riding by eliminating unevenness of roller speeds, and realize weight reduction in the whole elevator device. SOLUTION: This elevator device 1 includes a sheave 3 disposed at the top portion of a shaft 2; moving sheaves 4a, 5a attached at a cage 4 and a counterbalance 5; the cage 4 and the counterbalance 5 which are hoisted by a main rope 6 wrapped around the moving sheaves 4a, 5a and the sheave 3; and a rope for compensating weight of which one end is jointed with a lower portion of the cage 4, and the other end is jointed at a lower portion of the counterbalance 5. This device is constituted of a driving sprocket 11 in which the rope for compensating weight is replaced by a driving chain 9 connected with a plurality of rollers 7 so as to be freely bent by links 8 at prescribed pitches, and which rotates by receiving the driving force of a rotational driving device 10 generating the driving force for moving the driving chain 9 in the prescribed direction and transmits the driving force of the rotational driving device 10 to the driving chain 9, and a circular arc guide rail 12 in a circular arc form provided for converting directions at a portion in which the direction of the driving chain 9 changes.
