<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel bearing device promoting elongation of the service life of a bearing by enhancing sealing performance and durability of a seal. <P>SOLUTION: In the bearing device for the wheel which has the seal 9 integrally provided with side lips 17, 18, 19 brought into sliding contact with a hub wheel 1, a base part 11 of a wheel mounting flange 3 is formed to have an arc curved surface, and the three side lips 17, 18, 19 brought into sliding contact with the base part 11 are formed to be inclined outwardly. Interference of the inner side lips 18, 19 is set sequentially smaller than that of the outer side lip 17, and the side lip 17 situated in the outermost position out of the side lips 17, 18, 19 is inclined and raised outwardly from a position of an outer peripheral face of an outer member 5. Thereby, seal torque can be suppressed and set within an appropriate range. In addition, sealing durability can be improved by making wear speed of the respective lips 17, 18, 19 vary from each other, and stable sealing performance can be secured for a long period. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
