PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a percussive penetration testing apparatus for investigating a bed structure at a hammering point and the strength of a ground by penetrating a rod into the ground by hammering. SOLUTION: This percussive penetration testing apparatus 1 comprises a hammering unit 2 having a hammer 44, a penetration rod 2 penetrated into the ground by the hammer 44, a lift 12 following up the penetration rod 2 and applying a predetermined load to the penetration rod 2, a base unit 10 having a drive source 16 and lifting the lift 12 along a column, a load changing means 14 for changing the load to the lift 12 for changing the load applied to the penetration rod 2, a penetration amount detection means 17 for detecting the penetrated amount of the penetration rod 2 for each hammering by the hammer 44, and a control means 50 for controlling the hammering unit 20 and the load changing means 14 according to the penetration amount for each hammering detected by the penetration amount detection means 17.
