PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coloring composition for a color filter which is excellent in brightness, contrast, and heat resistance, and to provide a color filter.SOLUTION: The coloring composition for a color filter contains: a pigment containing a quinophthalone compound represented by the following formula; a binder resin; an organic solvent; and a photopolymerizable monomer and/or a photopolymerization initiator.
