PURPOSE:To improve the image quality of video magnification by scanning line interpolation and scanning line number conversion, to improve the image quality of the characters of synthesized subtitles and to improve the operability of moving the subtitles relating to the video magnifying device provided with a function for magnifying the video images of the movie of an NTSC system or the like, extracting the subtitles omitted at the magnifying time in advance and synthesizing them with magnified video images. CONSTITUTION:The output signals of a luminance signal/chrominance signal separation circuit 3 are scanning-line interpolated at a scanning line interpolation circuit 6 and then video magnification is performed at a scanning line number conversion circuit 7 so that the image quality of the video magnification of NTSC signals can be improved. Also, by providing an odd numbered/even numbered field discrimination circuit, the deterioration of the image quality of the characters of the subtitles due to the upside down inversion of the scanning lines generated at the time of moving the subtitles between different fields can be eliminated. Further, by stopping the write of the field memory of a subtitles processing circuit at the time of moving the subtitles, the subtitles are present on the magnified video images at all times and the subtitles can be easily moved. |
