<p>A transducer comprising e.g. a block (1) of sensitive elements such as a stack of piezoelectric discs supported between two end members by a threaded rod, and a single-piece shell (8) surrounding the stack and having a concave central portion (8A) with solid cylindrical extensions (8B, 8C) on either side thereof. Two sleeves are arranged at opposite ends of the transducer and resilient members (14) are inserted to separate the sleeves from the vibrating block (1). A flexible sheath (18) may be placed around the shell (8) to seal off the inner space of the transducer from the environment, and said space may be filled with a fluid such as oil. A connecting assembly is used to connect the vibrating block to an energising voltage supply. Said transducer is useful for generating vibrations at sea or in wells, particularly oil or gas wells or the like.</p> |
