<p>An onscreen display (OSD) system includes a source (10) of a background image representative signal. An OSD (50) memory stores a sequence of blocks, each block containing data representing an OSD. Each block also includes a pointer to a next block in the sequence. An OSD generator (40) retrieves the blocks from the OSD memory in order, and generates an OSD image representative signal from the OSD representative data. A signal combiner (20) combines the background image representative signal and the OSD image represntative signal.</p> |
