PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-chamber type air conditioner which uses a fixed speed type compressor, without using an inverter compressor, whereby it can be constituted at a low cost, without limiting the area or place where it is used. SOLUTION: An outdoor unit 1a comprises a plurality of fixed speed type compressors 5a, 5b, 5c different in compression power, an outdoor heat exchanger 6 composed of heat exchangers 6a, 6b, 6c different in heat exchanging power, electromagnetic ON-OFF valves 24a, 24b, 24c and electronic expansion valves 25a, 25b, 25c provided in piping connecting them, the drive and stop operations of the compressors 5a, 5b, 5c are combined according to the operating condition of indoor units 2, 3, 4 and the opening and closing operations of the electromagnetic ON-OFF valves 24a, 24b, 24c and the electronic expansion valves 25a, 25b, 25c are combined to control the inflow of a refrigerant into the outdoor heat exchanger 6, thereby circulating an optimum refrigerant quantity in refrigerant circuits. |
