PURPOSE: A method for downloading data is provided to make a mobile telephone terminal download necessary data by connecting to a predetermined server through a wireless internet, during a response stand-by time until other party responds to an originating call of the mobile telephone terminal, so as to supply video messages having many data amounts than short message services(SMSs) supplied from a present mobile phone service to users at a cheap cost. CONSTITUTION: An originating mobile station(MS)(MS1) requests a call setup to an originating BSC(Base Station Controller,BSC1) and an originating MSC(Mobile Switching Center,MSC1). A traffic channel for calling is assigned between the originating MSC(MSC1) and the originating MS(MS1). The originating MSC(MSC1) opens a data channel with an interworking function(IWF), and connects to a determined server to download data. The originating MSC(MSC1) requests location information of an incoming MS(MS2) to an HLR(Home Location Register). The originating MSC(MSC1) requests an incoming MS call to an incoming MSC(MSC2) and an incoming BSC(BSC2). If the incoming MS(MS2) responds to the request, the originating MSC(MSC1) cuts off the data channel connected between the originating MS(MS1) and the IWF, and switches into the incoming MS(MS2) to make a call.
