PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber, having display function by which a light guided in the optical fiber is diffracted to the outside to attain desired display, and to provide a method for manufacturing the optical fiber. SOLUTION: A cubic hologram or a diffraction grating 14 has been recorded in the optical fiber 1, and the optical fiber 1 having display function with which the light 15 guided into the optical fiber is diffracted and a specified pattern 17 is output from the lateral face.
