WATER-SWELLING POLYURETHANE FOAM FURNISHED WITH CHEMICAL RESISTANCE, METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME, AND CARRIER FOR BIOREACTOR GIVEN BY USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-swelling polyurethane foam furnished with chemical resistance to a water-soluble chemical, especially, a hypochlorous acid solution and an aqueous alkali solution.

SOLUTION: This polyurethane foam is given by adding water to a mixture of a hydrophilic polyurethane prepolymer (c) which is obtained by reacting a polyisocyanate compound (a1) with a polyol compound (b) and has at least two isocyanate end groups in its molecule and a polyisocyanate compound (a2) and reacting them, wherein purified diphenylmethane diisocyanate which does not substantially contain a polymeric component is used as at least a part of the polyisocyanate compounds (a1) and/or (a2).
