摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface modification method that enables the formation of a metallic film exhibiting good adhesion by using a cycloolefin polymer material exhibiting excellent dielectric properties, and a cycloolefin polymer material with a metallic film. SOLUTION: The cycloolefin polymer material is irradiated with ultraviolet rays in an oxygen-containing atmosphere to convert a C-H group constituting the cycloolefin polymer material into an -OH group and/or a -C=O group while forming concave/convex shapes on the surface. The thus-modified surface is subjected to electrolytic plating, on a primary coat formed by electroless plating having a slow deposition speed, to give the cycloolefin polymer material with the metallic film of a predetermined thickness and good adhesion.
