PURPOSE:To cause one polarized light due to a boundary of one rotating polyhedral mirror to be polarized twice on the other rotating polyhedral mirror, by using two rotating polyhedral mirrors, and rotating them in the same direction by applying a specified shift difference to the mutual rotation. CONSTITUTION:When a parallel incident beam 1 of beam diameter D enters a rotating polyhedral mirror 2a at a horizontal incident angle of delta, the optical axis is applied in the direction to form an angle of 2delta with respect to the incident beam 1, and the center of rotation of another rotating polyhedral mirror 2b is located on this optical axis. Thus, two rotating polyhedral mirrors 2a, 2b are disposed. In this constitution, while the light is polarized once at the angle of polarization of 2(alpha-beta) by one mirror plane of the rotating polyhedral mirror 2a, the light is polarized twice at the angle of polarization of 2(alpha-2beta) by the rotating polyhedral mirror 2b. Therefore, the number of optical beam scanning times may be twice as that obtained when the rotating speed of the rotating polyhedral mirror and the number of divisions are technically limited. |
