The output voltage from the three phase, DC link, variable frequency inverter is applied to the stator of an asynchronous motor. A three phase tapping carries the three phase voltage to the measurement circuits. The AC voltage is rectified by a bridge rectifier. This voltage contains large superimposed spikes arising from inverter commutation. A peak clipper reduces the amplitude of the spikes to about 5 per cent of the nominal output, and a two pole, short time constant filter removes the remaining ripple. A small compensating voltage provides an approximate average replacement for the lost peaks, giving an accurate measure of motor voltage with fast following of the motor voltage.
