PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To read information of a mail developed on a two-dimensional direction by using an inexpensive CCD. SOLUTION: This reader is provided with a case body 12 on whose one face a reading window 16 for catching a mail 6 on which mail information whose data are developed on a two-dimensional direction is displayed is formed, and an optical reading system 14 having a photoelectric transducer 22 in which light receiving elements are one-dimensionally arrayed for optically reading mail information which is provided inside the case body 12 so as to be freely movable to a sub-scanning direction along the reading window 16. Thus, the reading window 16 is face to the part on which the information of the mail 6 is displayed, and the reading optical system 14 is moved to the sub-scanning direction so that the mail information can be read for each line by the optical reading system 14 according to main scanning directional scan and sub-scanning directional movement. Also, an inexpensive line type CCD can be integrated into the optical reading system. |
