PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline secondary battery having improved cycle life by avoiding internal short-circuit during charging/discharging cycle while maintaining superior discharging characteristics. SOLUTION: The alkaline secondary battery comprises an electrode group consisting of a negative electrode 4 containing a conductive substrate 6 having a two-dimensional structure and a negative electrode layer 7 carried on the conductive substrate 6 and a positive electrode spirally wound via a separator. The winding starting end and the winding finishing end of the negative electrode 4 are coated with meshed binding layers 81-84. |
