THERMAL RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal recording medium having an excellent gloss and an improved writing property. SOLUTION: The thermal recording medium provides a thermal recording layer containing a colorless basic dye and an organic developer as main components on a support and a protective layer containing an inorganic pigment and a binder as main components on the thermal recording layer. The thermal recording medium has a coefficient of static friction of 0.550 or above and an amplitude of below 0.020 as specified in J.TAPPI No. 30-79, and a specular glossiness (incident angle and acceptance angle are 75 degrees) of 50% or more as specified in JIS-P-8142.
