<p>PURPOSE:To produce a filter having a high resolution with a simple stage by forming a functional group which can fix a dye in the light irradiated part of a film consisting of a specific coloring material and bringing a colored material into reaction therewith. CONSTITUTION:Explanation is given for the case of, for example, a color filter for a TV. A photosensitive base material for coloring 31 of a polymer or copolymer consisting essentially of a compd., such as phenyl methacrylate, of which the constitutional formula is expressed by R, C(CH2)C(O)XR2 (where R1 is H or CH3, X is O or S, R2 is a phenyl or naphthyl group) is coated on a glass substrate 30 (a), and UV light 3 is selectively irradiated thereto by using a photomask 32, then the substrate 30 is immersed in a dye bath to dye only the light irradiated part of the material 31 and to form a dye pattern 34 of, for example, red (c).
