<p>PURPOSE:To simply and inexpensively synthesize a compound having an acetal skeleton useful as a coupler for photography or various organic synthetic intermediates. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I (R<1> is alkyl, aryl or heterocyclic group; R<2> is alkyl or aryl) is reacted with (B) a compound selected from a compound of formula II (R<3> and R<4> are H, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxycarbonyl, aryloxycarbonyl, carbamoyl, sulfamoyl, aryl or heterocyclic group), paraformaldehyde and trioxane and (C) a compound of formula III (X1 is nonmetallic atomic group required for forming 5- to 6-membered nitrogen- containing hetero ring) in the presence of a Lewis acid (preferably boron derivative) and/or a metal salt (preferably cupric salt) at 0-150 deg.C, especially 20-80 deg.C to give an acetal of formula IV (X2 is as shown for X1 in formula III).</p> |
