摘要 PURPOSE:To stably detect the position of a flame for the synthesis of a porous glass preform over a long period and use the detected flame position for the control of the synthesis of the porous glass preform. CONSTITUTION:Fine particles passing through a burner 34 for forming a core are charged by applying a voltage to an electrode tube 36 with a DC power source 38 and electrified flame 50 for core is blown from the core burner 34. The electrified state of the core flame 50 is detected by electric field detection probes 60, 62, 64, 66 and the position of the core flame 50 is detected by a flame-position detection apparatus 86. The position of the core burner 34 is controlled with a burner position controlling apparatus 84, a three-dimensional burner driving apparatus 82 and a three-dimensional burner driving mechanism 80 using the detected result of the flame position to enable stable blowing of the core flame 50 against a porous glass preform 32.
