Local network with asynchronous transfer mode for transmitting cells

The network includes several interfaces (7) which are coupled through ring connections (15,18,19,22). Each interface is also coupled through other connections (23,24), with a station or an interface of another ring system. This enables cells to communicate with one another. The interface has a coupling device (8) connected with the rings and bridges through the buffer memories (9-14), to enhance the exchange of signals. The buffer memory (9) is connected with the receiving ring (15) and a line (16) to the coupling device.
