The control device (55) for a water heater (54), comprises a heat exchanger (20) heated by a burner (21). The burner is supplied by a fuel conductor (80) equipped with a magnetic valve (79/22), and comprises a temperature sensor (30,31,32,70,53,58,59,38,43,45,61), for determining the actual temperature, and a nominal temperature setting device (72). A circulation pump (37,28) is provided, provided with a motor (81,82). A setting device (79,83-85,79) is provided as well as an adjustment device (73-76,78). The adjustment device (78) is formed as a switch which interrupts a signal processing in one of the setting devices during its activation, and which imitates a change of the nominal temperature value on a display (77).
