PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a merchandise discount seal which is stuck to merchandise 1 put on with bar codes 7 and other source marking codes and is devised to enable a clerk of a cash register to notice the sure execution of the discount display of the merchandise 1 and a method of reading the source marking codes using the same. SOLUTION: The merchandise discount seal is formed by constituting the same as a so-called semi-gluing type, sticking a tacky adhesive 4 segment (seal sticking region 12) of a sealing body 3 alongside the bar codes 7, providing a portion on the rear surface of the sealing body 3 with the tacky adhesive layer 4 to form a seal sticking region 12 by noticing the fact that the sealing body 3 of the non-tacky adhesive layer 11 segment (code covering region 13) covers the source marking codes 7 and disposing the non-tacky adhesive layer 11 adjacently to the tacky adhesive layer 4 to the code covering layer 13) in such a manner that the code covering region 13 covers the source marking codes 7 on the front surface of the merchandise 1.
