PURPOSE:To evaluate the capacity of a battery by a method in which an electric signal associated with the amount of discharge of a battery within a given time from the beginning of floating charging is used after a constant charging for a predetermined period is completed when an a.c. source is in normal condition. CONSTITUTION:A.C. power is supplied from a source 10 to a load 17 through an inverter circuit 11. To evaluate the capacity of a battery 18, a rectifier 12 is controlled for a predetermined period of constant charging and then for floating charging. The amount of discharge for a given time from the beginning of floating charging is measured together with the voltage of the battery 18. The battery voltage is compared with a voltage, which corresponds to the remaining capacity and depends on the type of battery. In this manner, it is possible to grasp the decline of capacity with respect to the designed initial value for the battery 18. |
