PURPOSE: To provide a multi-function/high performance navigation device capable of reducing medium capacity and the cost when the same information amount is stored and storing and using massive amounts of information when the medium of the same capacity is used. CONSTITUTION: These electronized information are stored in a CD-ROM 1 in the state containing the map data, the route retrieval data and the indexing data, etc., and that at least partial electronized information is compressed. The electronized information are read out from the CD-ROM 1 by a read-out device 2, and the compression/non-compression of the read out electonized information are decided by a compression mode decision device 3, and when compressed, a selection switch 4 is shifted to a switch terminal t1 side, and the compressed electronized information are expanded by an expansion device 5 to be inputted to the navigation device main body 6, and when non- compressed, the information are inputted directly to the navigation device 6. |
