TREATMENT OF RUMEN ACIDOSIS USING alpha-AMYLASE INHIBITOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compound effective in treating rumen acidosis in a ruminant and a pharmaceutical composition comprising the compound and to provide a method for treatment using the pharmaceutical composition. SOLUTION: This method for treating the rumen acidosis comprises administering an effective amount of an effective inhibitor of a bacterial α-amylase and/or α-glucosidase to the ruminant. The method for screening is useful for identifying a suitable inhibitor of the bacterial α-amylase and/or α- glucosidase for treating the acidosis in the ruminant. The method for improving the ruminant milk quality and/or quantity comprises treating the ruminant with the effective amount of the inhibitor of the bacterial α-amylase and/or α-glucosidase. The compound represented by the following formula or its veterinarily acceptable salt, a solvate (including a hydrate) or a prodrug thereof is obtained. The method for producing the effective inhibitor of the bacterial α-amylase and/or α-glucosidase useful for treating the acidosis in the ruminant is provided.
