PURPOSE: A stove having rice cooking function and a method for controlling the same are provided to determine the heating power of a heating device and an amount of rice to be cooked by measuring a temperature equilibrium time in a pot to be heated. CONSTITUTION: A gas stove includes a standard burner(103), a weak fire burner, and a grill burner. A pot heated by the standard burner(103) is placed on a triangle plate. A temperature sensor(107) is installed so as to detect the temperature of the bottom of the pot. A door is attached to the front of the gas stove. A control panel is installed on the left side of the door. Various keys are installed at the front of the control panel. The standard burner(103), the weak fire burner, and the grill burner are operated by pushing fire handling buttons formed at the fronts of the standard burner(103), the weak fire burner, and the grill burner, respectively.
