A support system for the intersection of a longwall (2) and a roadway (1) includes a trimmer beam (5) supported by a hydraulic jack (3) which carries the end of the roadway arch support (4). A profiles cap (6-11, 13) fits over the top (10) of the beam (5) and has an upward projecting spigot (11) to catch the end of the longwall roof support (12), a horizontal shoe (6) with an upward projecting spigot (13) which enters a hole in a capping plate (14) masking the end of the arch support (4), and a vertical projecting sheath conforming to the curve of the arch (4). USE/ADVANTAGE - The stresses of the longwall roof support are balanced out on the cap with those of the roadway arch support.
