The cover has several jointed metal sections (1a, 1b ...) which are linked by hinges (2). Each section is box-shaped with a flat upper edge (3) with sloping sides (4) towards the front and back. The first panel (1a) is joined to an hexagonal drum (5). When a carriage (7) slides along the opening frame, the panel is rolled around the drum and the sections fit into each other. The drum shaft (6) is joined to a winch (16'). The cover is rolled or unrolled by pulling on cables (11 or 12), or by turning the winch. USE/ADVANTAGE - Roll-away cover for boat deck hatchway.
