The present invention relates to a protective paper dispenser equipped with a device for automatically glueing an adhesive strip on one of the edges of the paper in order to facilitate the preparation of painting works. This dispenser includes a frame (2) arranged to carry a roll of protective paper (3) on a transverse shaft and a cutting tool (7) for cutting the said protective paper to the desired length. It is characterised in that it includes an additional device for unrolling an adhesive strip (15) in the direction of one edge of the roll of protective paper (3) so that the adhesive strip (15) is glued along the edge of the paper (3) and is unwound in synchronisation therewith, and transverse positioning means for adjusting the transverse position of application of the adhesive strip (15) on the roll of paper (3). Applications: all types of painting work requiring protection of zones against paint splashes. <IMAGE>
