The invention concerns a method of continuously sealing the longitudinal seams in foil strips by heating and compressing overlapping foil strip regions. According to the invention, during the sealing phase, the foil strip regions to be sealed are heated a plurality of times (3, 5, 7, 9, 11), preferably in steps, and are guided at least once (4, 6, 8, 10) therebetween. The invention also concerns a corresponding sealing device.
