摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfy both control stability and comfortableness. SOLUTION: In a piston 4 of a liquid pressure shock absorber, a damping force generating mechanism 16 for generating damping force and a damping force variable mechanism 17 for changing damping force in accordance with a stroke of the piston 4 are provided. In the damping force variable mechanism 17, at small stroke time, spring force of an elastic unit 34, 35 is additionally applied to a piston rod 5 since between bypass passages 32e, 32f are interrupted by a slider 33. Consequently, even when damping force is decreased, virtual damping force is increased, control stability is improved by improving comfortableness. At large stroke time, spring force is increased, control stability can be ensured. At extremely large stroke time, by connecting the bypass passages 32e, 32f, spring force of the elastic unit 34, 35 is saturated, to be free from flapping or the like.
