PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately correct a smear varying with the intensity of light incident on a solid-state imaging element such as a CCD of a solid-state imaging device without being influenced by a dark current, random noise, etc. SOLUTION: The generation quantity of smears when a light source 11 is turned on and an X-ray film 12 is imaged, and a physical quantity which are proportional to the received light quantity of a CCD linear line sensor 14 in the imaging are calculated, and the generation quantity of smears in image reading is calculated from the ratio of the physical quantity proportional to the received light quantity in the imaging to that proportional to the received light quantity in the reading of the film 12 to perform correction processing.
