A nut driver for driving nuts on an elongate threaded shaft comprises a main housing, and a drive spindle rotatably mounted on the main housing for rotation about a drive axis, and having a shank end portion projecting externally to the main housing for receiving an external drive. A socket is rotatably mounted in the main housing for rotation about a socket axis, and operatively engaged in driven relation by the drive spindle. The socket has a peripheral main body portion with a longitudinal throughpassage and a nut engaging surface surrounding a front portion of the throughpassage, and stop surface to preclude a correctly sized nut from passing therethrough. In use, whey the socket engages a nut to be rotated on an elongate threaded shaft, the elongate threaded shaft can extend through the throughpassage of the socket.
