Provided are a measurement probe that is capable of determining whether a front end surface thereof is actually in contact with biological tissue, and a living body optical measurement system. The measurement probe 3 comprises: an illumination fiber 31; a first light receiving fiber 32, second light receiving fiber 33, and third light receiving fiber 34 that receive returning illumination light; and a contact detection fiber 35 that detects contact between the front end surface of a rod lens 38 and biological tissue by receiving returning illumination light. The contact detection fiber 35 is disposed in a position at which the detection area of the contact detection fiber 35 on the front end surface of the rod lens 38, through which illumination light and returning light can pass, is outside the illumination area of the illumination fiber 31. |
