A tile for roofs comprises a transparent or translucent element having two parallel walls the gap between which is filled with an inert gas. The element may be made of glass or plastics and may be tinted. The element is pref. blown from a molten mass in the conventional manner. Seals are pref. installed between the edges of adjacent tiles. The elements pref. have convex upper faces. The inert gas endows the tile with good insulation properties.
