<p>PURPOSE:To provide the subject new compound useful for treating and preventing hypertension, cardiac infarction, angina pectoris and cerebral infarction as a vasohypotonic agent exhibiting a strong vasohypotonic action because of selectively activating the ETB receptor of endothelin. CONSTITUTION:A peptide of formula I [X is H, acyl, etc.; X<2> is Glu, D-Glu; X<3> is Val, Ala; X<4> is His, Ala; X<5> is Lle, Ala] or its salt, e.g. a compound of formula II. The compound is obtained by covalently bonding an a-amino group-protected C-terminal amino acid to an insoluble carrier such as a chloromethyl resin by a conventional solid-phase process removing the alpha-amino- protecting group, successively polycondensing amino acids with the C-terminal amino acid in the order of the sequence and subsequently separating the objective peptide derivative from the carrier resin.</p> |
