A method and system for providing a temporary credit card number on the internet wherein a temporary credit card number is given so as to protect a user of a credit card from an exposure of a credit card number. In the method, a server for providing a temporary credit card number issues a temporary credit card number to a buyer possessing a credit card. The internet cite or the store gets a confirmation as to whether or not the temporary credit card number is authorized, from the temporary credit card number providing server. The temporary credit card number providing server gets a confirmation as to whether or not a credit card corresponding to the temporary credit card number is authorized, from a credit card agency for the buyer. |
