The process avoids the conventional use of oils as lubricants in machining operations, the alternative lubricant being liquid carbon dioxide ; this obviates the after-cleaning of machine tools and workpieces and problems of re-treatment of the lubricant. Process for the lubrication of two contacting surfaces uses a lubricant comprising CO2, mainly in liquid form, injected in the proximity of the contact zone of the surfaces. An independent claim is also included for the machining equipment incorporating the process. |
