PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contents management system which easily restores contents stored in a terminal even after the terminal is exchanged to a new one. SOLUTION: This contents management system is omposed of a server device and a plurality of terminals connected to each other through a network. Each of the terminals is provided with a contents storage part. The server device is provided with a contents location management/storage part for storing the correspondence information between the identification information of contents and the terminal in which each of contents is stored in the contents storage part. When receiving notification that the terminal has been exchanged, the server device retrieves the location of the contents which have been stored in the contents storage part of the terminal before exchange by referring to the contents location management/storage part, and instructs the other terminal which stores the contents stored in the terminal before exchange to transmit the data of the contents to the terminal after exchange according to the retrieval result.
