PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display apparatus which suppresses variation in the capacitance of a thin film transistor and to provide a display apparatus which suppresses variation by the polarity of a plunge voltage. SOLUTION: The display apparatus is equipped with a thin film transistor TFT having a semiconductor layer formed via an insulating film on the upper face of a signal line, a drain electrode SD1 and a source electrode SD2 laid on the upper face of the semiconductor layer. The side line of the source electrode opposing to the drain electrode is formed along the width direction of the signal line and the source electrode is laid in the running direction of the signal line and over across the semiconductor layer a-Si and a region where the semiconductor layer is not formed. The signal line has a pattern with a narrowed step portion with drastically decreased width in the side with no semiconductor layer formed in the region where the source electrode is formed over across the region, and the source electrode in a portion on the signal line and further extending over the signal line is superposed on the step portion of the signal line.
