PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for manufacturing a seam welded pipe having excellent welded characteristic, which apparatus can keep excellent welded quality by forming an appropriate tapered shape on the edge portions of a strip in the direction of the width before seam welding, and also can suppress the deterioration of manufacturing efficiency. SOLUTION: The apparatus for manufacturing the seam welded pipe comprises a cutting or grinding means 3 next to a leveler 2, and a roll forming machine 5 having a fin pass forming stand 4a with two step tapered fin shape. The tapered shape is given to the end edge portion on the upper surface side of the strip in the direction of the width by means of the cutting or grinding means 3. In addition, the tapered shape is given to the end edge portion on the lower surface side of the strip in the direction of the width by means of the fin pass forming stand 4a.
