Provided is a wastewater treatment process which comprises keeping the domination of Bacillus in a biological treatment tank and which can improve the quality of treated water while reducing the generation of sludge associated with wastewater treatment. A wastewater treatment process which comprises purifying wastewater with a microorganism in a biological treatment tank, wherein the purification of wastewater is conducted in such a state that a first microorganism which belongs to the genus Bacillus and which is positive for nitrate reduction and negative for starch decomposition as determined by a physiological test for microorganisms and a second microorganism which belongs to the genus Bacillus and which is negative for nitrate reduction and positive for starch decomposition as determined thereby are present in the biological treatment tank as the dominants. |
