Cotton (contg.) textiles are treated with a vat. or S-dye in 2.5-6.5M, pref. 3.5-6.5M aq. alkali (NaOH), opt. also contg. the necessary reducing agent. They are impregnated with a dye, opt. intermediately dried and then treated with a 2.5-6.5M, pref. 3.6-6.5M aq. alkali (NaOH) opt. contg. also necessary reducing agent. Dyeing is completed in the usual way.
