PURPOSE: A method of generating an optimum recording power of a recording player of an optical recording medium is provided to search an area for performing an OPC(Optimum Power Control), and to record a preset recording pattern as changing a recording power, then to search an area where the recording pattern is recorded to reproduce recorded data. CONSTITUTION: If data is inputted, an OPC controller decides an OPC operation(201). A laser power controller outputs a recording power to an LD driver under control of the OPC controller(202). The OPC controller searches a position to perform the OPC operation on a non-recording area of a PCA(Power Calibration Area)(203). If the searching is completed(204), the LD driver changes recording power of each sector to record 3T as 16-stage recording power during a searched 1 ECC block(205). If the recording is completed(206), the LD driver measures jitters of each recording power as reproducing the 1 ECC block or 1 sector(207). The OPC controller decides an optimum recording power by using jitter values, and stores the power(208). The OPC controller records data on a user data area with the decided optimum recording power(209).
