PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for producing in high productivity at low cost packed boiled rice balls with good taste and palate feeling, particularly suitable for the sales at convenience stores. SOLUTION: This method for producing packed boiled rice balls comprises the following procedure: a pattern-carved plate 1 provided with recesses 2 each corresponding to a specified shape offering as a boiled rice ball 6' is prepared, a heat-resistant plastic film 3 having heat resistance standing the heat in boiling rice and a sufficiently larger dimension than the total of the inner surface area and the bottom area of the recess 2 is placed on the recess 2 and put to nearly close contact with both the inner surface and the bottom surface of the recess 2 by the use of a hot press plug 4 of a shape corresponding to the recess 2, the recess 3a of the plastic film 3 kept in the condition of close contact is packed with a mixture 5 of a specified amount of rice and water to boil the rice followed by making a rice boiling by a conventional method, thereafter the peripheral rims 3b of the plastic film 3 are folded back and mutually superposed on the resulting boiled rice 6, which is then compacted by pressing from above, concurrently the peripheral rims thus folded back are made to firmly adhere to each other to effect wrapping the boiled rice with the plastic film. |
