Cationic 1,3,4-thiadiazole dyestuffs of the formula (I) in which the symbols used have the meaning given in the description, corresponding anhydrobases, processes for the preparation of the cationic 1,3,4-thiadiazole dyestuffs, their use for dyeing and printing various materials and as dichroic dyestuffs in polarizing films, and various materials which comprise such dyestuffs.
