The support element consists of a rectangular insulating strip (2) and a support strip (3) which is arranged on top of the insulating strip and is connected to it. The connection between the two strips and the wall (1) may be achieved by a dowel pin (4). The two strips may be adhered to each other by an adhesive layer (9) and the structure of the support element may be reinforced by a metal sheet (5). The insulating strip may consist of a mineral fiber material e.g. hard foam, whereas the support strip may consist of an organic or inorganic material, e.g. calcium silicate or cement bonded material.
