PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plastic optical fiber cutting device which can cut a plastic optical fiber into a smooth cut surface. SOLUTION: This cutting device is provided with a cutting blade 1, a cutting blade fixation part for fixing the cutting blade, an optical fiber fixation part 3 having an optical fiber insertion hole at right angles to the length of the cutting blade, a pressing mechanism 4 for pressing the optical fiber at the optical fiber fixation part against the cutting blade, and a moving mechanism 5 for moving the cutting blade fixation part along the length of the cutting blade. The cutting blade 1 is fixed to the cutting blade fixation part 2 and an optical fiber is inserted into and fixed in the insertion hole of the said optical fiber fixation part 3, and the pressing mechanism 4 presses the optical fiber against the said fixed cutting blade 1 and the moving mechanism 5 moves the cutting blade fixation part 2 along the length of the cutting blade to cut the plastic optical fiber. |
